Overview

Group type defines group’s “Stateful/Stateless” characteristic as well as which set of nodes will be created within this group.

The parameter may be defined both for master and for each worker node group. One cluster can contain multiple groups of different types, although some restrictions are in place when using the Basic SKU load balancers, see Load Balancers for details.
